I MISS ELLIOTT SMITH
Elliott era de los pocos, pero muy pocos músicos virtuosos que sabían lo que hacían, no hace falta ser un experto para darse cuenta de ello. Ah! cuanto hecho de menos a Elliott Smith, quisiera que aún estuviera aquí haciendo más música para el deleite de aquellos que apreciamos su arte, igual es un pensamiento bastante egoísta pués él era un ser libre y así es como debe ser tratado. Le dejaré ir pero que su música se quede.

Today is seven years now since Elliott Smith disappeared, for many a surprise to others something that you could see coming. I have read several things about him and they say a lot of hypotheses and so on by people who claim to have known him and call themselves his friends but who seem to still expect a "I am sorry" from him. I have very little to say about him because all I know are his songs and how they converge with some situations of my reality, all I have to say is simply that I miss him, I miss his music and there is always the question of what new material would have produced today. What happens is that Elliott's music is very special (and him also), a mixture of poetry, philosophy and musical arrangements that romanticize to intense feelings such as sadness, happiness, love, indifference, dissatisfaction with the establishment and more. It is easy to agree with Smith because he gives the impression that his songwriting describes perfectly what one feels at certain moments. So then talk about Elliott Smith becomes a personal issue because the line that divides the objective from the subjective becomes dissolved because pure feelings get involved.
Elliott was one of the few virtuoso musicians who knew what they were doing, it does not take to be an expert to realize it. Oh! I miss Elliott Smith, I wish he would still be here doing more music to the delight of those who appreciate his art but I know this is a very selfish thought as he was a free being and that’s how he should be treated. I’ll let him go but his music will remain.

Autumn de Wilde es la aclamada fotógrafa y amiga de Smith quien publicó un libro fotográfico que va más allá de ser solamente bellas imágenes y reune a familiares y amigos íntimos de Elliott quienes hablan por primera vez en años y cuentan anécdotas acerca del músico entre otras cosas. Suena exagerado pero debo de admitir que derramé un par de lágrimas al leer la entrevista que Ashley Welch (hermana de Smith) concedió a dicho libro mientras de fondo escuchaba el disco que éste mismo libro incluye de canciones inéditas grabadas en vivo en un bar llamado Largo en Los Angeles.

Autumn de Wilde is the acclaimed photographer and friend of Smith who published a photographic book that goes beyond being only beautiful images and gets to meet relatives and intimate friends of Elliott who speak for the first time in years and tell anecdotes about the musician among others things. It sounds exaggerated but I should admit that I spilled a pair of tears while reading the interview that Ashley Welch (sister of Smith) granted to the book while listening the CD that this same book includes of unreleased songs recorded live at a bar called Largo in Los Angeles.

La frase que dicta “…first time I saw you I knew it would never last…” describe pefectamente lo que siento por una chica en éste momento, les cuento: se trata de la típica historia de amor no correspondido por aquella a quien tanto adoro pero que no puedo tener porque los gustos de ella se inclinan hacia un idiota quien posee la sonrisa más estúpida del planeta pero aún así él es considerado sexy, lindo. The phrase that dictates "…first time I saw you I knew it would never last…" describes perfectly what I feel for a girl at this moment, the story: is a matter of the typical story of unrequited love by the one I love but that I cannot have because her inclinations go towards an idiot who he possesses the most stupid smile in the planet but even so he is still being considered sexy, cute. FRIDAY + MOVIE = UZAK (DISTANT)
Hace tiempo que no les recomiendo una película y la verdad ya me hacía falta compartirles una de mis favoritas, en realidad quizá Uzak (Distant) sea una de las más increíbles! Bueno no soy crítico de cine ni nada por el estilo, sólo un fan del séptimo arte nada más, así que se me dificulta escribir una reseña por más que quisiera. Me limito a recomedarles a que la vean, es un film de carácter existencial, desolación social y un tanto depresiva con diálogos casi inexistentes. Es una joya.

It's been a while since I don't post a movie recommendation here, and to be honest I kind of missed it. Uzak (Distant) is probably one of the best out there. Well I am not a movie critic or anything like that but I wish I could write a review for this particular movie. All I can say is watch it, it's a movie about existentialism, social isolation, and somewhat depressive with almost non existent dialogues. It's a marvel.

De la aclamada serie de televisión infantil chilena 31 Minutos surge éste tema que ahora les comparto pero ésta vez arreglada con una nueva versión por parte de uno de los músicos idependientes latinos que a mi criterio está creando cosas diferentes y de calidad, hablo de Siddhartha quién interpreta éste tema y le da un toque bastante fresco que me parece un buena canción para iniciar la semana.
